SUMMARY
Serves as the primary point of contact and first level of support within the Information Technology department for all computer requests. Responsible for recommending desktop, printer, and peripheral hardware and software purchases, performing installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair. This involves responding to incoming requests, consulting with users, prioritizing the request, escalating or assigning the request as necessary, and performing and/or tracking the resolution of the issue. Another major function of this position is to perform and/or oversee regularly scheduled operational tasks, including tape backups, report and file transmissions, and service metrics reporting. Also responsible for ad hoc operational tasks such as file restores from disk and tape, retransmission of files and reports, testing, user administration and security. The ability to work with people of all levels in the organization, who possess varying degrees of technical skills, while maintaining a positive and patient attitude is critical.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provide timely response to requests made via personal contact, phone, or email.
Accurately record, prioritize, categorize, and assign requests in system.
Perform PC deployment, moves, and upgrades, including the installation of hardware, domain access, networking protocol, and software.
Troubleshoot and resolve problems/issues related to desktop hardware, software, network access, remote access, security, and business applications.
Order software, desktops, and peripherals and track service calls for warranted equipment.
Perform desktop hardware and software testing as required.
Monitor scheduled batch processes, including incoming and outgoing file and report transmissions.
Generate test files for new customer implementations.
Perform scheduled and ad hoc operational tasks, including tape backups and restores, issues reporting, customer setup, testing, and retransmissions.
Order, maintain, and organize adequate inventory of equipment, supplies, and spare parts.
Work closely with other IT team members to identify and suggest resolutions and improvements to infrastructure, processes, and procedures.
Create and maintain operations documentation.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree required bachelor degree in computer science preferred.
1 - 2 years of desktop experience.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and Office Suite, MSCA or MOUS certification desired.
1 year of hardware break-fix experience desired, A+ certification preferred.
Familiarity with network, telecom, security, and file transfer protocols.
Experience with database and internet development technologies desired.
