Great client located in Chicago is in need of a Level II Cisco Network Administrator on a 3 - 6 month Contract-to-hire position. Interview next week, start thereafter!

YOU MUST BE AVAILABLE TO BE ON CALL/CARRY A PAGER ON A WEEKLY BASIS.

This position is that of a full time administrator providing support for core network devices including firewalls, routers, switches, and intrusion prevention. Administrator will be supporting critical network WAN * MPLS infrastructure as well as LAN infrastructure for a global enterprise network across 50+ worldwide locations.

Knowledge Skills:

Hands-on experience implementing and administrating and troubleshooting network devices:
Cisco Firewalls
Cisco routers
Internet based IPSEC VPN tunnels
Previous responsibility for providing customer support

Demonstrable level of competence including:

A thorough understanding of the OSI network model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking
Strong level knowledge of IP routing OSPF, BGP, WAN technologies
Strong level knowledge of firewall policies, IDP
Strong level knowledge of LAN switching, VLANs
A practical level of experience implementing and administrating common TCP/IP-based services, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, etc.
Working knowledge of common network monitoring and security utilities
Troubleshooting focused on determining hardware vs. software, hardware vs. firmware, software vs. operating system, network vs. application/systems, and patterned vs. non-repeatable problems
5+ years of network administration preferred
Ability to prioritize and multitask
Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Current Cisco CCNA preferred or higher
Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of technical expertise
Experience with Juniper OR Cisco Intrusion prevention devices

Basic Qualifications:

5+ years of experience as a Cisco Network Administrator
